I Don’t Trust Myself

So it was after our final lectures for the day I and my course mates where strolling home when one of them turned to me as though she just remembered a long intended issue and asked smiling sheepishly: “Hey Sister Jesus, We heard you don’t visit guys house, is that true?”

Yes I replied, nodding my head in affirmation.

Getting even more curious this time, she went further to ask, “what if he’s someone you’re in a relationship with?”

Me: The more reason I wouldn’t even dare going.

She: Oh well, but you are a born again christian, or don’t you trust yourself? I mean you are the one who always reiterate about the grace that helps to overcome sin!

Me: (Still nodding in affirmation). Yes dear, I absolutely trust the grace of God a great deal, but then I don’t trust myself and coincidentally, the grace of God and “Myself” are resident in one vessel; “My body”, and so I wouldn’t want the “Myself” to misbehave. Besides, it would be wrong of me to begin to tempt the grace of God and hereby turn it to lasciviousness!
Anyways we wrapped up that discussion and bade ourselves farewell for the day.

Alright now so what lessons am I driving at?
Remember Peter? He was so close to Jesus, ate from the same place with Him, heard all the secrets to internal life, so it shouldn’t such a blame on him when he said “even if all men deny you, I would never fall for that”. Regardless of that, he fell hands down, not just once, but thrice! Three whooping times!

How many of Us like Peter would say,
“Noo, I will go to that beer party invitation and wouldn’t even take a sip”? Hello! brother, even with the Bible in your hands, you’ll not only sip, you’ll drink to stupor!

How many of you would say “it’s just a “harmless” touch or hug that wouldn’t hurt”? Well I’m telling you, you may just end up arousing feelings that would harm either or both of you!

How many of you would say, “no I will visit him alone and nothing will happen”? My sister, I tell you, it will not only happen, but will also reoccur.

“See, the devil is not your mate. ” The earlier you internalize this, the more careful you become.

“You cannot carry fire in your bossom and not be burnt;” you cannot furnish an opportunity and atmosphere for sin and not use it!

Let he that thinketh he stands take heed lest he falls ” – 1 Cor. 10:12.

May God keep us watchful and wise while waiting.
