Have you ever felt stuck in life’s waiting room?
Have you ever felt like one moving but not progressing? Like you’re going somewhere and nowhere at the same time?
Do you feel clueless when it comes to decision-making you are often left wondering whether you know what you’re doing or life is simply taking you on a rigmarole?
These and more are questions whose answers perturb our minds from dusk to dawn as we often stay awake — sometimes finding answers or crying for the lack of it.
As having a fever is not, in itself, a disease but points to the possible presence of one; These unanswered questions are not exactly the problems but reveal the presence of one (or more). By the grace of God, I’m trusting that He will help us connect the symptoms to the problem today.
When God speaks to us most times, it is with the intent of getting us to work with Him to reveal Him in us the more we continue to behold Him. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.” Christ, when He walked the earth a man, exemplifies this by the way He lived simply to do the will of the Father and bring glory to the One who sent Him.
What do we do when we’re faced with the aforementioned issues?
Find purpose.
Firstly, what is purpose? Oxford’s dictionary defines purpose as “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” It connotes the importance of finding the reason behind every season and existence. In other words, you’re existing because there’s a reason behind it; there’s a purpose for which you’ve been created, and why you go through the things you do.
Purpose is powerful, it is the wheels that steer our lives to our destinations while helping us identify distractions along the way. A wise man late Dr. Myles Munroe once said, “When purpose is unknown, abuse is inevitable”. In this context, the feelings of hopelessness, directionlessness, and loss are inevitable every time we lose sight of purpose. We, therefore, should not fail to firstly, find the purpose of God for our lives, and secondly the purpose for the seasons of our lives. When purpose is known, distractions can be easily identified and avoided, while fulfillment becomes our portion.
How do you find purpose?
Find God. The Tentmaker, Apostle Paul speaking to the Athenians as documented in Acts 17:28 relays something to them about God when he said, “For in Him we live and move and have our being…” God, in His mercies, can sometimes (in a seemingly fortuitous move) guide us to our purpose even when we do not know Him.
However, to prevent doubts and guessing, I show you a better way. Find God for yourself and you will have found yourself, for God chasers are purpose finders. Walk with Him as a lifestyle and He will reveal to you the reason for your seasons.
How do find God?
Let us pray.
