Dear Young Minister,
When full understanding of a subject is lacking, there’s a very high tendency to be one-dimensional in thinking as regards that thing. Thus, it’s expedient to seek to have understanding despite all thy getting.
This thing called ‘ministry’, let’s stop trying to over-spiritualize it. The concept of ministry simply means “to serve.” So, if you’re not serving, you’re not doing ministry. Christ demonstrated this simple concept in the feet-washing episode.
If you’re in Christ, know that you’ve been automatically called to serve. Yes! you’re a minister. Now, even as you must serve, it’s very important to know the audience you have been called to serve. This is where most young ministers continue to miss it.
That you’re called into ministry doesn’t automatically mean you’re called to the pulpit platform. Though, this might seem the most popular form of ministry within Christiandom, is not the only form.
You might be called to serve as a diplomat like Daniel; you might be called to serve as a national leader and astute businessman like Joseph; you might be called to serve as a soldier like Gideon; you might be called to serve even as a doctor like Luke was; the list goes on and on. But in all of these things, you’ll serve with a difference.
All of the above mentioned people served with a difference. You know the reason why!? The light of God been made manifest in/through them. Because you’re one with Christ, you have this light in you. The Lord gave them the resources to minister effectively. Of course, it begins from being broken by/before Him.
The Lord has called you – great. But before you make a show, screaming at the devil week in and week out on the church pulpit, go back to God to help you identify your pulpit. It might be the church, it might be another platform. Elijah, being a religious prophet would not have functioned effectively if he wanted to be like Daniel the prophetic diplomat.
Stop crowding the church when the world is being crowded out by darkness. Know your place, take your place, then have dominion.
Grace to you.
